The 11th Hour

Lori and I went to see the movie "The 11th Hour" this past Saturday in SF. The first half is about climate change and how Americans are all going to HELL because we consume and consume and consume the finite resources of our beloved planet. This death-and-mayhem part always bums me out. BUT the second half is about hope and what can actually be done to slow down global warming. All in all a worthy go-see.

Can I just say I'm pissed off at our ever-lovin' predecessors for allowing all this damage to occur? Pollution is pollution and not hard to recognize when it's right in front of your face (like smog, for example). One expert claims that ON AVERAGE, for every box o'product sold, there are 32 boxes of garbage produced. Who decided this was OK?

See the movie if/when it plays in your area. The website is pretty cool too, with ideas for tools/groups/organizing/etc.

I'm struggling to figure out how to "go green." After 46 years of happy consumerism, it's not easy to wake up one day and decide to change how I shop, eat, sleep, drive, ETC. I love my Pop Tarts! But I'm realizing This Consumer Life doesn't make sense to me anymore, and my view of "wealth" has to change. Mindless consumption is throwing my karmic balance sheet way out of whack.
